Ice Cream Frappe

Here's an extra-fortified version of a vanilla shake. This is a nutrient-packed, cool refresher for a dry, sore throat. After enjoying this recipe, any leftover frappe can be covered and refrigerated up to 2 days, but it will lose much of its volume and will become a bit watery. Be sure to re-blend before serving.


Makes 1 1/2 servings.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: About 60 seconds for the toaster


Ingredients:


1/2 cup ice cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup whole milk
2 TBSP dry milk powder 
Fresh peaches or berries, optional




1. CHILD STEP:  Measure ingredients and pour into blender. Add fruit, if desired.
PARENT STEP: Make sure blender container is secure and lid is on tight.
2. CHILD STEP:  Press puree button on blender and mix until smooth.
PARENT STEP: Stop blender, pour frappe into glasses and serve immediately.

280 calories 10 g protein
14 g fat 29 g carbohydrate
360 mg calcium 0 g fiber (unless fruit is added)
